Reunión del 1ro de marzo del 2008

Entusiasmo

El entusiasmo estuvo presente en la reunión del sábado 1ro de marzo. Margarita Estrada fue la Toastmaster del día. Millie Cabero, del Club de Morristown, fue la Directora de la Palabra del Día. Julián Hernández dio un Consejo Gramatical sobre la entonación. Margarita, con mucho entusiasmo improvisó los temas de mesa hasta que llegó Lis Arciénega quien continuó con los temas, en los cuales los participantes tenían que escoger un objeto de muestra de una caja y hablar sobre el entusiasmo que ese objeto le recordara.  Cathy Weigand dio el discurso número dos, Organice su Discurso, titulado “El poder de la radio y la música”. Además de estar muy bien organizado, Cathy tuvo una excelente variedad vocal al hablar sobre su afán de aprender el Español y el papel que la radio y la música tuvieron en ese aprendizaje. Julián evaluó el discurso; Lucy Puvlik, también del Club de Morristown, fue la Reportera Gramatical y Contadora de Muletillas; Nick LoBue fue el Reportero Cronográfico; y el grupo hizo una evaluación general de la reunión. Después que la reunión finalizó los miembros tuvieron otra pequeña reunión donde se habló del taller educativo que el club está planeando hacer en la conferncia del distrito en mayo. Más adelante tendremos los detalles al respecto. La próxima reunión será el sábado 15 de marzo a las 9:30 a.m. en nuestro sitio habitual. El tema es el Dia de San Patricio. ¡No falten! *************************************************************************************Enthusiasm was present at the meeting last Saturday, March 1. Margarita Estrada was the Toastmaster of the Day. Millie Cabero, from Morristown Toastmasters Club, was the Word Master. Julián Hernández gave a Grammatical Tip on intonation. Margarita, with a lot of enthusiasm improvised the table topics until Lis Arciénega arrived, who continued the topics, in which the participants had to pick a prop from a box and comment about the enthusiasm the object brought them.  Cathy Weigand delivered speech #2, Organize Your Speech, titled “The Power of Radio and Music”. Besides from being well organized, Cathy had an excellent vocal variety when she talked about her eagerness to learn a Spanish and the role radio and music had in the learning process. Julián evaluated the speech; Lucy Puvlik, also from Morristown Toastmasters Club, was the Grammarian/Ah Counter; Nick LoBue was the timer; and the group did a general evaluation of the meeting. After the meeting was adjourned members stayed for another short meeting to discuss the educational workshop the club plans to do at the district conference in May. We will have details about it later on. The next meeting will be on Saturday, March 15 at 9:30 a.m. at our usual place. The theme is San Patrick’s Day. Don’t miss it!

Dia de los Presidentes

¡Ya tenemos un Blog! Espero que sirva de un medio mas de comunicación entre los miembros del club y los invitados. Este es el primer resumen de la reunión que se publica en este blog. Si tienen alguna pregunta o comentario, por favor, déjenos saber.En la reunión del sábado 16 de febrero celebramos el Dia de los Presidentes con mucho amor, pues unos dias antes había sido el dia de San Valentín. Por lo tanto, los temas de mesa giraron mas bien sobre el Dia del Amor. Nick LoBue, cada vez con mas confianza, fue el Toastmaster del Dia. Julián Hernández introdujo el concepto de acento como parte del Consejo Práctico Gramatical. Margarita Estrada fue la Directora de Temas de Mesa y también dio el discurso número nueve, Sea Persuasivo, titulado “La semilla”. Lis Arciénega también dio el discurso número nueve, Sea Persuasivo, titulado “Tu contrato”. Los evaluadores fueron Julián y Jim Becza, respectivamente.  Jim nos visitó nuevamente y manifestó interés en hacerse miembro. Él también fue el Director de la Palabra del Dia. Nick LoBue fue el Reportero Cronográfico y el grupo hizo una evaluación general de la reunión.  La próxima reunión será el sábado 1 de marzo. El tema es Entusiasmo. ¡No se la pierda!

We have a blog! I hope it will serve as one more mean of communication among members of the club and guests. This is the first meeting summary that we publish in this blog. If you have a question or comment, please let us know. At the last meeting, on Saturday, February 16, we celebrated President’s Day with a lot of love, since a few days before it had been St. Valentine’s Day. Therefore, the table topics were about the Day of Love.  Nick LoBue was the Toastmaster of the Day, more confident every time. Julián Hernández introduced the concept of Accent, as part of the Grammar Tip of the Day. Margarita Estrada was the Table Topic Master and she also deliver speech #9, Be Persuasive, titled, “The Seed”. Lis Arciénega also did speech #9, Be Persuasive, titled “Your Contract”. The evaluators were Julián and Jim Becza, respectively. Jim, visited us again and expressed interest in joining the club. Welcome, Jim! Jim was also the Word Master (feriado, which means holiday, was the word of the day). Nick LoBue was the timer and the group did a general evaluation of the meeting. The next meeting will be on Saturday, March 1. The theme will be Enthusiasm.  Don’t miss it!
